The following statement now appears on the
United for Peace and Justice website, regarding the anti-war march scheduled for September 24 in Washington, D.C.:
The two major antiwar coalitions that have initiated and organized for a massive anti-war March on Washington for September 24 have agreed to organize a joint rally followed by a joint march. Both coalitions will organize under their own banners, slogans, and with their own literature for the September 24 demonstration. The joint rally will begin at 11:30 am at the Ellipse in the front of the White House. We urge everyone around the country to unite and come out for the largest possible anti-war demonstration on September 24.

The ANSWER website carries the same statement.
More, plus a poll, after the fold.
It appears that the two groups, UFPJ and ANSWER, have put their differences aside in an effort to forward the demonstrations scheduled for Sept. 24.
I'm seeing this as a good thing; a massive march or rally with thousands upon thousands of people together would seem to make more of an impact that individual rallys or marches. But yes, now that it's combined, we'll probably see ANSWER's laundry list of causes marching in step with anti-war protestors like me. My guess, however, is that in the media sound-bite world, if this march gets coverage on the nightly news and in the press, it will be covered as an anti-war event, and not a movement to free Cuba or whatever the flavor du jour may be for some of the marchers.
So now, I want to know... are you going to be there?
